RED VELVET's First Win


Rookie girl group RED VELVET seem to be taking the industry by storm. Just a few days ago at Music Bank, their landed their first win only eight months after debut. They thank their fans tearily, saying that, "After releasing just a digital single, we are now selling our first album. We believe we've risen up to this spot because our many fans liked it; we feel very honored. We are so thankful."

RED VELVET release Ice Cream Cake


The new 5 membered girl group RED VELVET has finally brought their fans some 'Ice Cream Cake' with a new song and music video. RED VELVET's new song has been getting lots of favorable reviews from fans and many international KPOP fans.

While the song starts off in a semi-creepy "la-la-la-la", the song moves towards a upbeat dub step and synth hybrid. "It's so tasty, come and chase me~" will be playing in our heads all day!

RED VELVET have also released "Automatic", a pre-release for their upcoming album. The full album will drop off tonight, 12PM KST! Be sure to support RED VELVET and check out their music video below!

Red Velvet Wish SNSD's Taeyeon Happy Birthday



On the recent episode of Red Velvet's Ice Cream TV, broadcasted through Naver Music, The rookie group paid a visit to one of their most respected sunbaes, Taeyeon of Girls' Generation.

The girls visted the leader of the popular girl group at her birthday showcase. They brought her a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake, and asked their respected unnie some advice on how to act during Radio and TV broadcasts and in true sunbaenim fashion, gave her hoobaes some wise advice.

Red Velvet Releases MV Teaser





The now five member group, RED VELVET, released a teaser to the music video of their highly anticipated comeback track "Ice Cream Cake".

The teaser included a snippet of the song as well as some eerie imagery and mysterious shots of the girls. RED VELVET is set to make their official Comeback next week with the release of their first mini album March 17th at noon through various online music stores.

Red Velvet Comesback With Ice Cream Cake




The K-pop world has been abuzz with the news of SM Entertainment's newest group, RED VELVET, making their comeback to the music scene with their first mini album titled "Ice Cream Cake".
Much hype is surrounding this comeback especially with the announcement of the group's newest member, YERI!

SM has been releasing teaser images ever since Monday of this week, with each member rocking different shades of blonde hair and stunning blue eyes.

In addition to the teaser images, SM Entertainment released two audio snippets of their songs "Automatic" and "Ice Cream Cake". Furthermore, it has also been revealed that Red Velvet will have a comeback showcase which will be aired through Naver Music called "Red Velvet's Ice Cream TV".

The album is expected to be released on March 17th at noon KST through various online music stores. Are you excited for RED VELVET's comeback?

OT12?: EXO & RED VELVET


International fans of EXO and RED VELVET have started fighting over rumours and jokes about "OT12".

RED VELVET's new member YERI


Newly debuted Red Velvet gave everyone a surprise by adding a new member to the foursome. Born in 1999, YERI is the maknae of the group, replacing JOY who held the position before. 

Her addition caused KPOP fans to lose it, with #yeri trending worldwide on Twitter at number 10 (source) & #3 in Korea (source). 

Fans of the original 4-membered group were shocked by this news. The reaction of both Korean and international fans was one of confusion and uncertainty. Most people wondered "what the hell are SM doing?".

Korean netizens left comments such as (source):


  1. "[+1,854, -42] Red Velvet has no public popularity that I'm sure having a new member join will still make them look like a rookie group" 
  1. "[+1,198, - 23] So the rumours were true!!"
  1. "[1,096, -303] Will they become SM's first fail group?"
  1. "[+957, -19] Wow I can't believe they're really getting a new member"


Senior SM groups, EXO & GIRLS' GENERATION, had recent line up changes which could have fuelled the confusion.  

Rumours have begun spreading that YERI is only one of the girls who are going to join Red Velvet, who is now rumoured to have up to 7-12 members in total. 

Whether this is a successful strategy, time will only tell.

RED VELVET will come back with 'ICE CREAM CAKE' to be released on March 18.
